Let’s not mention the golf…

This week I’ll be heading off for two days at a luxury hotel set in 300 acres of lush Hertfordshire countryside, including a championship golf course. Don’t be jealous though, as my time will be spent holding back-to-back scheduled meetings and discussions with financial advisers from across the UK, so having any time to use my golf clubs will be pretty nigh on impossible.

Yes, it’s the annual PIMs conference and this year it’s being held on dry land and not its usual cruise ship venue, which set sail and held its audience captive (literally) with its packed programme of all things related to the world of financial advice.

This will be the third consecutive year PortfolioMetrix has been at the conference and the fact that we’re going again is testament to its past success.

The benefits of the conference are easy to sum up. Advisers are able to step away from the day-to-day distractions of their usual routine to engage with services and products that can help them shape and grow their businesses. We get to have meaningful business conversations with advisers who are serious about seeking out an investment partner that can help them provide a better service for their clients and also enable them to spend more time helping clients with financial planning.

Whether moving the venue to dry land will prove such a winning formula as heading off to sea only time will tell but there’s been no shortage of advisers’ keen to sign up to the event.

I’m really looking forward to making new connections, even though the only birdie I’m likely to see is one sitting in a tree outside my bedroom window.
