Featured on the Citywire website, PortfolioMetrix SA Head of Research, Brendan de Jongh, has revealed that PortfolioMetrix plans to launch a global ESG equity fund of funds in South Africa in the coming months.
The new strategy’s name is the PortfolioMetrix BCI Sustainable World fund of funds, and it will fall into the Asisa global equity general category. There are about 80 funds registered for sale in South Africa in that category, and only two of them, the Old Mutual MSCI World ESG Index feeder fund and the Old Mutual MSCI Emerging Markets ESG Index feeder fund, with a combined total of R3.2bn in assets, are ESG funds.
